Dynamic Binding
Ephemeral Binding
What is another name for a VMKernel Adapter
Virtual Adapter
What are requirements for beacon probing
Should not be used with route based on IP hash and should be used with 3 or more adapters
When should a notify switch option of no be used?
When connected virtual machines are using NLB in unicast mode
Can peak bandwidth be smaller than the average bandwidth?
No
What are the three configuration modes for virtual switch tagging?
External Switch Tagging (EST) - physical switch does all tagging, nics are connected to access ports
Virtual Switch Tagging (VST) - the vswitch does all the tagging, NICs are connected to trunk ports on physical switch
Virtual Guest Tagging (VGT) - driver enables guest to perform tagging, if using on a VSS, vlan 4095 must be used
What are the requirements for enabling jumbo frames on a guest VM
- The VMXNET 2 or VMXNET 3 network adapter must be connected to a virtual machine port group on a virtual switch with jumbo frames enabled.
■ All physical switches and other devices connected to the virtual machine must support jumbo frames. Remember that jumbo frames must be supported end to end. ■ The guest OS must also be configured to support jumbo frames. In Windows guests, this is accomplished by changing the MTU setting in the network adapter properties, as shown in Figure 4.18.
