Vault Holds Flashcards
What is the core intention of the third vault hold?
Assess mobility and restrictions of the cranial bones and relating membranes with primary focus on the occiput and sphenoid
What is the hand placement for the third vault hold?
Both hands “cupping” the occiput with thumbs extending laterally and anteriorly to the greater wings of the sphenoid.
What is the technique for the 3rd vault hold?
Evaluate the CSR using this hand placement on the occiput, sphenoid and temporal bones
What are the clinical considerations for the third vault hold?
To evaluate/gain information about the cranial sacral rhythm as it is reflected into the occiput and sphenoid
What is the core intent of the second vault hold?
To assess mobility and restrictions of the cranial bones parentheses and relating membranes and parentheses, primarily from an ANTERIOR-POSTERIOR perspective, as well as to focus on the cranial floor. Feeling for “vertical widening”
What is the hand placement of the second vault hold?
One hand, cupping the occiput while the thumb and fifth fingers of the other hand make contact with the greater wings of the sphenoid
What is the technique for the second vault hold?
Evaluate the cranial sacral rhythm using this hand placement on the anterior posterior aspect of the cranium
What are the clinical considerations for the second vault hold?
To evaluate and gain information about the cranial sacral rhythm as it’s reflected in the anterior posterior bones of the cranium
What is the core intent for the first vault hold?
To assess mobility and restrictions of the cranial bones and relating membranes, primarily from a medial – lateral perspective
What is the hand placement for the first vault hold?
Hands and fingers spread out on the lateral aspect of the cranium, making light, conforming contact
What is the technique for the first vault hold?
To evaluate the CSR using the first vault hold on the medial lateral aspect of the cranium
What are the clinical considerations for the first vault hold
To evaluate and/or gain information about the cranial sacral rhythm as it’s reflected into the lateral bones of the cranium
