Still Points Flashcards
What is the core intent of inducing a steel point using the CV-4 technique?
To bring the cranial sacral rhythm to what is perceived as a palpable, therapeutic stop, facilitating homeostasis, specifically through the occiput
What is the hand placement for CV-4?
Palms facing up towards the ceiling, place one hand over the other with thumbs touching each other. The occiput rests on the thenar eminences of the thumbs with the external occipital protuberance (EOP) in the middle of the thenar eminences. Maintain a distance of 1.5 to 2.5 inches in between the middle of the thenar eminences. There should be no pressure on the occipitomastoid (OM) sutures; the thenar eminences should be medial to the OM suture.
What is the technique for Stillpoint induction by CV-4?
- Evaluate SQAR
- Follow to the end range of extension and be a barrier to flexion.
- Continue following into extension and being a barrier deflection until no palpable CSR is felt
- Still point is felt.
- Release the barrier and maintain hand position.
- Wait for palpable CSR
- Re-evaluate SQAR
Can the CV-4 Stillpoint induction be done on children?
It should not be done on children under nine years old…ADD REASONING
What are the clinical considerations for Stillpoint by CV-4?
- remove transient and minor restrictions
- promotes homeostasis
- Helps move nutrition in and waste out
- Reorganize, rebalance, rejuvenate
- ## beneficial for hyper-autonomic problems from high blood pressure to peptic ulcer
What phase of flexion is the body in when the cranial sacral rhythm is externally rotating
