Vasculature of Abdomen Flashcards
What level is the aortic arch?
T4
What level does the abdorminal aorta bifurcate to left and right common iliac arteries?
L4
What level is the aortic hiatus?
T12
What are the branches of the descending aorta?
- Bronchial Arteries
- Mediastinal arteries
- oesophagus arteries
- pericardial arteries
- superior phrenic arteries (vertebrae, spinal cord, back muscles, body wall, skin, diaphragm)
- intercostal and subcostal arteries (vertebrae, spinal cord, back muscles, body wall, skin)
What are the branches of the abdominal aorta?
1) Celiac trunk - left gastric (stomach, adjacent portion of oesphagus), splenic artery (stomach, spleen and pancreas), Common hepatic artery (stomach, pancreas, duodenum, gallbladder and liver)
2) Superior mesenteric artery (pancreas, small intestines, appendix and first 2/3 of large intestines).
3) Inferior mesenteric artery (last 1/3 of large intestines
4) inferior phrenic arteries (diaphragm and inferior portion of oesophagus)
5) Adrenal arteries (adrenal glands)
6) Renal arteries (kidney)
7) Gonadal arteries (testis and ovaries)
8) Lumbar arteries (vertebrae, spinal cord , abdominal wall and lumbar region)
9) common iliac arteries - external and internal
Abdominal aorta - median sacral artery
Which feotal shunt connects the aorta to the pulmonary artery?
Ductus Arteriosus
At what vertebral level does the superior mesenteric artery arise?
L1
What are the branches of the superior mesenteric artery?
- Inferior pancreaticduodenal artery
- Jejunal and ileal arteries
- middle and right colic arteries
- ileocolic artery
Where does the inferior mesenteric artery arise?
L3 near the inferior border of duodenum
