Vascular smooth muscle contractility Flashcards
why are the two types of smooth muscle organisation
mutiunitary and unitary
what is the difference between the two organisations of smooth muscle
- Multiunit, where each cell receives innovation from autonomic neurons - allows for finer motor control
Unitary, where only some gets innovation from autonomic neurons, and is then spread via gap junctions
what is the pump that uptakes calcium into the SR
SERCA (2a and 2b) pump
what is the receptors that pushes calcium out of the SR
ryanodine receptors
IP3 receptors
what are the two calcium binding proteins found inside the SR
calequestrine and calreticulin
what is the molecule that calcium binds to when calcium is released, in terms of contractility
calmodulin –> Ca4-calmodulin
what deactivates the phosphorylation of myosin light chain
myosin phosphorylase (NO and prostacyclin activates this molecule)
