vascular pathology Flashcards
what are the two disorders with p-ANCA
micoscopic polyangiitis and churg-stress.
henoch schonlein purpura
vasculitis due to IgA immune complex deposition. most common vasculitis in children. presents with palpable purpura in the skin on the buttocks and legs. IgA nephropathy. usually follows upper respiratory tract infection
poly arteritis nodosa
necrotizing vasculitis involving most organs. lungs are spared
presents in young adults as HTN, abdominal pain and melena, neurologic disturbances, skin lesions, associated with HBsAg. string of pearls lesions.
kawasaki
asian children <4. fever conjunctivitis, erythematous rash of the palms and soles. enlarged cervical lymph. coronary artery involved. thrombosis and MI. aneurysm and rupture. treat with aspirin.
microscopic polyangiitis
lung and kidney. similar to WG. P-ANCA. no granuloma.
churg-straus
necrotizing granulomatous vasculitis with eosinophils. involves multiple organs, especially the lungs and heart. asthma and peripheral eosinophilia. P-ANCA correlate with disease
risk factors for HTN
age, race, obesity, stress, lack of physical activity, high-salt diet.
