Pneumothorax

Malposition into an artery

Early:
Haematology formation
Infection
Catheter occlusion

Late:
Thrombosis
Damage to sympathetic chain–> Horners
Phrenic Nerve Damage–> hiccough

What is the Seldinger technique?

A

Used to gain safe access to blood vessels and hollow organs.

Needle used to puncture, guide wire threaded in and needle removed, catheter threaded over guide wire before guide wire removed.
