Conduct disorder
Repetitive behavior violating the rights of others and violating societal norms.
Only for ages under 18
After 18 it is antisocial personality disorder.
Oppositional defiant disorder
Continual hostile and defiant behavior specifically towards authority figures, but doesn’t seriously break social norms.
Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder
Onset before age 10
Severe recurrent temper outbursts, constant anger and irritation.
Vulnerable child syndrome
Parents percieve their child as super vulnerable, usually after something traumatic, and are hyper protective
What are the mood disorders
MDD, Bipolar, Dysthymic, and cyclothymic disorder
Schizophrenia
Chronic, lasting >6 months
Must have at least one of:
1: delusions
2: hallucinations
3: disorganized speed
and at least 2 total, including these as well:
4: Disorganized or catatonic behavior
5: Negative symptoms - flat affect, avolition, anhedonia, asociality, alogia
Can present with ventriculomegaly on brain imaging.
Increased suicide risk.
Teenage cannabis use increases schizophrenia in teens.
Brief psychotic disorder
lasts less than 1 month
Schizophreniform disorder
Lasts between 1 and 6 months
Schizoaffective disorder
Schizophrenia plus a major mood disorder = schizoaffective disorder
defined by having a period of at least 2 weeks of ONLY the psychotic symptoms WITHOUT any major mood episodes.
Major mood disorder with psychotic features
Schizophrenia plus Major mood disorder, but the major mood disorder is always present, no periods of >2 weeks with only psychosis.
Delusional disorder
Fixed false beliefs lasting > 1 month.
Functioning otherwise normal.
Delusional disorder can be shared among people in a very close relationship - folie a deux.
Manic episode
Lasts at least 1 week.
Needs at least 3 of these: DIG FAST
Distractable
Irresponsible
Gradiose
Flight of ideas
increased Agitation and goal directed Activity
less need for Sleep
Talkativeness, pressured speech.
Hypomanic episode
Lasts at least 4 days. Elevated mood but not as high as mania. No psychotic features or no super significant impairment in social or work obligations.
Depresion with atypical features
Can experience some improved mood, but only briefly.
Has hypersomnia and hyperphagia instead of insomnia and no appetite.
Leaden paralysis
Long standing rejection sensitivity.
Grief
Normal feelings of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (doesn’t have to be in order)
Lasts less than 6 months.
Pathologic grief causes functional impairment.
