What is the definition of variation?
Differences in characteristics.
What is meant by the word “species” ?
A species is a group of organisms that share a genetic heritage and are able to interbreed.
What causes variation?
Some variation is from characteristics that people have inherited from their parents, such as their eye colour. This is also known as inherited variation.
However, some variation is caused by your surroundings, for example your characteristics can be affected by your diet, lifestyle etc…. This is called environmental variation
What is environmental variation?
Variation caused by your surroundings is called environmental variation. For example, your characteristics can be affected by factors such as your diet, education and lifestyle.
