Q

What are the McCabe-Thiele assumptions?

A
  1. The latent heats of the column components are equal and constant.
  2. The component enthalpy changes and heats of mixing are negligible compared to latent heats.
  3. Well-insulated column so negligible heat loss.
  4. No pressure drop within the column.

Q

What happens when the slope of the equilibrium line decreases?

A
  1. Increase in distance between the operating line and the equilibrium line.
  2. Outlet gas and liquid composition will increase.
  3. Amount of substance A transferred will increase and the outlet molar fraction of substance A will decrease.
