Circuits Flashcards
1
Q
What is thermionic emission?
A
The outflow of electrons into a vacuum from a heated electric conductor (or liberation of electrons from a substance due to heating)
2
Q
What are the inductor and capacitor equivalent to at steady-state for a DC circuit?
A
Capacitors behave as open circuits and pass no current.
Inductors behave as short circuits and has no voltage drop.
3
Q
What does the potential difference depend on if a conductor passes through a magnetic field?
A
- Speed with which the conductor cuts the magnetic field.
- Length of conductor
- Magnetic field density.
4
Q
What are the characteristics of electric work?
A
- Work is not a function of the path taken.
- No work is done in moving the electron horizontally.
- Work is performed by moving only in the vertical direction.
