Vaporizers ppt Flashcards
to beat this bastard!!!!!!
MAC
Minimum alveolar concentration, the % at which 50% of the population will not move to surgical stimulation
vapor
gas phase of a substance that is liquid at room temp
vaporization
conversion of a liquid to a ga (inside a vaporizer)
Vaporization depoends on what 3 things
VP of agent
Temp of enviroment
Amount of carrier gas (N20 and O2)
What is the pressure created when molecules “bombard”: the walls of the container
Saturated VP
VP of Halothane Enflurane Isoflurane Desflurane Sevoflurane
243 170 239 669 171
What does heat do to SVP
incraeses it
more molecules enter gas phase
less molecules reenter gas phase
What does cooling do to SVP
Decreases it
less molecules enter gas phase
more molecules “re-enter” liquid phase
At constant temp what happens to SVP
# of molecules entering and leaving liquid are equal # of molecules in vapor phase stays constant
if flow rate is 1L/min or 1000ml/min if i turn vaporizer to 1% how many ml of iso come out every min (assuming iso’s MAC is 1%)
10ml/min
What is so special about Desflurane
boiling point 22.8 degrees C (73 F room temp)
it will just naturally want to boil and turn into a gas
so it completly caotic and will be inaccurate on delivery
so they heat it up. and presureize it to double the atmosphere (1600mmHg)
so then all of it is at a stable gasses phase
also has a valve that will release extra gas when being opened
Tec-6
must be plugged in and have battery back up
Desflurane
Mac 6.6%= no matter what flow is set whan 6.6% gas is being deivered is will be deliverd
B/G: 0.42 fast onset fast offset
VP-669
Soda lime stable
Temp the Tec-6 makes desflurane?
39 C
What pressure does teh tec-6 make Desfluranr?
1500mmHg
if u have a low VP what would the carrier gas need to be to carry the gas. high or low?
high
ex methoxyflurane VP 23 (needs lots of FGF)
Isoflurane 239 VP needs less FGF to obtain molecues
