High population validity as it was a meta analysis of 32 strange situation studies targeting 2000 infants.
Ctiticism
Culture bias as over half (18 out of 32) of the studies were carried out in the US and only 5 of the studies were carried out in collectivistic cultures.
Criticism of strange situation tool
Imposted etic as it is based on american child rearing practices
Final criticism
Lacks ecological validity as the 32 studies were carried out in a controlled environment.
