Analytical information
Encompasses all organizational information and its primary purpose is to support the performing of managerial analysis tasks
Attribute (column)
Fields; characteristics or properties of an entity class
Database management system (DBMS)
Software through which users and application programs interact with a database

A person, place, thing, transaction, or event about which information is stored

Foreign key
A primary key of one table that appears as an attribute in another table and acts to provide a logical relationship between the two tables
High quality information
- Accuracy: are all the values correct? Is the name spelled correctly? Is the dollar amount correct?
- Completeness: are any of the values missing? Is the address complete including street, city, state, and zip code?
- Consistency: is aggregate or summary information in agreement with detailed information? Do all total fields equal the true total of the individual fields.?
- Uniqueness: is each transaction, entity, and event represented only one in the information? Are there any duplicate customers?
- Timeliness: is the information cure rent with respect to the business requirements? Is informations updated weekly, daily, or hourly?
Information granularity
The extent of detail within the information (fine and detailed or coarse and abstract)
Integration
Allows separate systems to communicate directly to each other
Integrity constraints
Rules that help ensure the quality of information, built into a database
Logical view
Focuses on how users logically access information to meet their particular business needs
Low quality information
Intentionally entering inaccurate information
Different entry standards and formats
Erroneous info by accident or to save time
External info subjet to inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and errors
Physical view
Deals with the physical storage of information on a storage device such as a hard disk
Primary key
A field (or group of fields) that uniquely identifies a given entity in a table
Real-time information
Immediate, up to date information
