Values - plasma components Flashcards
Sodium
135 - 145 mmol/l
Potassium
3.5 - 5.0 mmol/l
Calcium
2.2 - 2.6 mmol/l
Chloride
95 - 105 mmol/l
Iron
F: 11-30 μmol/l
M: 12-36 μmol/l
TIBC (total iron binding capacity)
F: 45-70 μmol/l
M: 50-80 μmol/l
Bilirubin
- Total
- Direct reacting
Total: <17 μmol/l
Direct: <5 μmol/l
Glucose - fasting
3.0-6.0 mmol/l
Uric acid
Carbamid
Uric a: 150-400 μmol/l
BUN: 3.5 - 7.0 mmol/l
Creatinine
40-130 μmol/l
(breakdown of creatinine-phosphate in muscle. Produced at constant rate and secreted unchanced - creatinine clearance = GFR)
Cholesterol (total)
HDL cholesterol
Triglycerides
tot: 3.6 - 5.2 mmol/l
HDL: 1.0 - 1.6 mmol/l
TG: 0.8 - 2.3 mmol/l
Total protein
60-80 g/l
Low:
- Liver disorder, kidney disorder, proteins not digested/absorbed properly in ex celiac disease or IBD)
High:
- chronic inflammation, viral hepatitis, HIV, bone marrow disorders like myltiple myeloma
Albumin
35-50 g/l
A/G (albumin/globulin quotient)
1.25 - 2.5
How to calculate:
Measured total protein and albumin. Globulin = total protein - albumin
Low:
- Overproduction of globulins (multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases)
- Underproduction of albumin (liver chirrosis, selective loss of albumin in ex nephrotic syndrome)
High
- Underproduction of immunoglobulins (genetic or leukemia)
CRP (C-reactive protein)
1-8 mg/l
