Results?

A
  • From the 21 completers, that were given structured interviews, all said they would recommend the group to others.
  • Using semi-structured interviews, patients valued hearing other people’s experiences (helped understand their symptoms and treatment availble so they could recover).
  • Using 2 questionnaires, no sig clinical change between completers and non-completers.
    • They indicated 50% of group had improved self-esteem.

But…

  • Unhelpful because of guilt about the past and didn’t like talking in a large group.
  • Group met early morning so felt too tired to really engage.

Conclusions?

A

Psychoeducation group was useful for the p’s. Helped them to understand their illness, which they valued, and understand other people’s experience with the illness. Increased their confidence with the illness.
