Valgus Collapse Flashcards
1
Q
What 2 main issues cause a Valgus Collapse?
A
- Overactive Hip Adductors
- Restricted ankle mobility
2
Q
Explain how Overactive Hip Adductors can play a role:
A
- Overactive Hip Adductors are paired with Under active gluteal muscles.
- This prevents proper stabilisation of the femur and causes the hips to move into Adduction and internal rotation of the hips.
3
Q
Explain how ankle mobility can play a role:
A
- Reduced Dorsi Flexion mobility along with tight lower leg muscles.
- This prevents the knee from migrating forward sufficiently and thus causes the foot to pronate as compensation.
4
Q
What Stretches would be used for Imbalanced hip Adductors and gluteal muscles?
A
- Clam stretch
- Side lying leg raises
5
Q
What Corrective Exercise would be used for a Valgus Collapse?
A
- Resistance Band between knees
6
Q
What test can be performed to measure if ankle mobility is the problem?
A
- Kettlebell squat with feet half on weights.
7
Q
What stretch can be used to improve Ankle Restriction?
A
Deep tissue work with Hockey ball on Gastrocnemius
