A provincial or territorial law that gives an association the responsibility for implementing regulations and bylaws for governance of its professionals. Provincial/Territorial legislative body establishes The Act.

Non-binding position statements, policies, and guidelines that the provincial associations are encouraged to review and adopt.
What is the experience requirement for licensure in Canada?
4 years of relevant experience, except for in Quebec where only 3 years is needed.
What is the academic requirement for licensure in Canada? Are there execeptions?
Completion of an accredited Canadian engineering university degree.
When that is not possible, applicant may have to complete additional steps like taking of university courses, writing of technical exams, or attend an interview by the association.

By the Agreement on Internal Trade, a federal Canadian Law.
Must have no criminal convictions and is in good standing, meaning their dues are up to date and they are not under investigation for anything.
What is the Washington Accord?
An accord established in 1989 supported by 18 countries to recognize the equivalency of accredited engineering post secondary programs.
What is a license to corporations called? (like a PEng for companies) What are the requirements for obtaining it?
A Permit to Practice, or Certificate of Authorization.
- Must hold professional liability insurance.
- Must establish a person within the company that is acting in a supervisory capacity.
What are some examples of practice related illegal practice?
- When individuals practice engineering without a license
- If a corporation practices engineering without a Permit to Practice
What is an example of a title related illegal practice?
- An employer giving the title of “Project Engineer” to a new-grad

To provide members with a way to publish new research, connect with other members, and stimulate original thought.
