Point of View
User personas
A representation and way to humanize the goals, pain points, and behaviors of a hypothesized subset of users based on initial interviews and and continuously refined based on actual behaviors when interacting with the product or service.
Proto-personas
A basic version of a persona that you build to represent a potential customer when there is not the time and/or money to build a true persona.
Primary persona
The person with the largest impact if there are multiple personas.
Predecessors proto-personas
Assumptions made on proto-personas that aren’t purely fact that helps the team understand it is purely an assumptions
User stories
Defines features, functions and solutions from a specific persona’s perspective to move forward with the design and development process.
AS (a persona), I WANT (action), SO THAT(outcome)
Job stories
Similar to a user story, but focuses on the WHY of the problem or need.
WHEN ____, I WANT TO____, SO I CAN____
Problem Statement
Helps to focus the project on the problem trying too solve and who it is being solved for. It is hyper-focused, t the point and states the problem. It does NOT outline a solution.
(Proto-persona), NEEDS A WAY TO (need) BECAUSE (insight). WE WILL KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE WHEN WE SEE (qualitative/ quantitative measure)
Hypothesis Statement
A first attempt at solving the primary problem of the persona.
WE BELIEVE THAT BY [doing this / building this feature / creating this experience] FOR [the name of your proto-persona], WE WILL ACHIEVE [this quantitative / qualitative outcome].
