anterior uveitis; inflammatory of anterior uvea, comprising of iris and ciliary body
what are some causes of uveitis (disease manifestations)
either disease manifestations or infections
ankylosing spondylitis
idiopathic juvenile arthritis
multiple sclerosis
SLE
inflammatory bowel disease
granulomatosis
reactive arthritis
infections; herpes, TB, syphilis, HIV
clinical features of anterior uveitis
red eye, pain, blurred vision and photophobia. there may also be lacrimation from the affected eye
signs of uveitis on examination
reduced visual activity, ciliary flush, hypophon, small irregular pupil due to adhesions
investigations to do for uveitis
clinical diagnosis
can do FBC, ESR, CRP, fundoscopy
what will a fundoscopy be used to exclude
exclude retinal detachment
management of uveitis
corticosteroids, intraocular steroid injections
