Why are objects coloured?

A

They are made up of atoms which all have different electron configurations that absorb and/or re-emit photons in specific wavelengths.

The colour of an object corrresponds to the complimentary colour of the absorbed wavelength

A

The absorbance of a sample at a specific wavelength = Extinction coefficient x Molarity x Length of cuvette
