Utterson is determined to discover the truth about Hyde and his control over Jekyll

Utterson has a strong curiosity streak in his character.

Ironically, curiosity is what drives Jekyll too, but Jekyll’s curiosity leads to his downfall.

“lovable” is used to make him stand out more to the reader-he is more likeable and trustworthy
