storm and sanitary sewer systems

A
  • they are gravity sewer systems, and flow to the city mains by gravity.
  • city mains located at lower part of subdiv.
  • They start at the highest pt.
  • Storm and sewer pipes cannot be curved, and must use straight sections between manholes of max length 150m
  • max length between manholes is always 150 m

manholes required when:
- change in dir’n
- two lines intersect

  • they must have min 1m clearance from eachother, CL to CL

  • pressure system, up or downhill
  • no manholes, fitting used for
  • beginning and end of water main
  • change in dir’n
  • two seperate lines intersect
  • curves are allowed if pipe R is greater than 60m
  • water main must be looped if it is greater than 150m in length
  • dead end main shorter than 150m allowed
  • must be at least 3m from storm and sanitary, CL to CL

A
  • a strip of land within a private lot for the purpose of operating the water and sewer systems
  • city can access it whenever
  • min 3m width, could be more when two pipes are side by side
  • if water and san/storm (sewer) go thru, need min CL distances
