Bentham believed that a moral agent should do the action that creates more pleasure than pain even if it results in their own unhappiness

if all possible actions would bring about more pain than pleasure; you have to do the action that would bring about the least amount of pain.

Bentham thought the quantity of happiness was important in his act utilitarianism not the quality of it because he didn’t thing that one from of happiness was superior to another.
