What are the advantages of using diaphragm walls?

Answer 1

Minimise noise which would cause nuisance in built-up areas
Avoid vibration which could disturb adjacent soil or structures.
Provide a watertight enclosure thus preventing ground water from entering the excavation
Minimise the space wasted outside the excavation –diaphragm wall can be installed right against an existing structure
Minimise the internal support (strut or shoring) to facilitate the progress of excavation work
Suitable when the excavation is deep and/or water pressure is high
