Why might a disabled person who works full time not participate in wheelchair athletics?
Limited provision of wheelchair athletics sessions
Lack of specialised facilities
Lack of (disabled) role models.
Lack of self esteem about their ability to participate successfully
Lack of awareness of opportunities to participate.
What might unemployed people not participate in sport?
What they can do for free is limited
Cost of equipment
The amount of available income impacts on what leisure activities can be done
What might be a barrier for an elderly person participating in sport?
The activity needs to be low impact
Lack of ware ness of what’s on offer-find the internet difficult to understand.
Why might ethnic minorities not participate in sport?
Lack of role models
Lack of ethnic minorities as coaches or officials
Family commitments-different family members have different roles (e.g. the woman’s role)
Religion-prayer times
Why might teenagers not participate in sport?
School commitments-not much free time
Reliable on parents - rely on them to pay and to take them to training/matches
Lack of income.
Why might families with young children not participate in sport?

Child care is expensive
Disposable income - money that is left over after bills.
Why might a disabled person not participate in sport?
Access to facilities (lifts, parking bays and changing rooms)
Transport to facilities - paying someone to drive them.
Provision- what is actually on offer for them?
