What energy is transferred?

Useful energy and wasted energy both end up being transferred to the surroundings, which become warmer however, as energy spreads out it becomes more and more difficult to use for further energy transfers.

Can wasted energy be transferred as sound?
A
Sometimes wasted energy is transferred as sound, but the amount of energy is usually very small. This energy will eventually be transferred to the surroundings making them warmer.
