Medium scale allowed Saville to use large brushstrokes and use paint in a sculpted manner, obtaining a painterly aesthetic with no drawn lines to create the form, but instead, gestural brushstrokes.

Scale and close-up composition also allow for life-like skin detailing which allows for the theme of ‘real life people’ ( i paint modern life) to be continued- as opposed to the fake depictions of complexion in media.
