Created the model T
Made standardised parts so it’s cheaper
Hired unskilled workers so he doesn’t have to pay them as much
Why was there a consumer boom?
Consumer goods like radios and fridges were mass produced and made cheaper
This created jobs
Who remained poor in the 1920s?
Farmers remained poor
Took loans out of machines and ended up making too much crops having to lower prices
How did women’s lives change?
Had jobs and got more money
Some were called flappers who went out to party, smoke and drank
How did popular culture change in the 1920s?
Cinemas became more popular
Talkies became screened
Radio caused sports like baseball to become more popular
What were the problems caused by prohibition?
Ban on alcohol
Caused people to make there own alcohol
Led to crime and health problems
Who was al Capone?
Made money selling illegal alcohol
Bribed police to avoide capture
Bought latest weapons
What were the Jim Crow laws?
The segregation of black and white people in schools and toilets
Who were the KKK?
Racist people who persecuted who weren’t wasps
Especially African Americans
What was the red scare?
America worried about communism spreading
Why did the stock market boom?
The value of shares kept on rising
Why did the Wall Street crash?
Value of shares fell sharply
