Resulted in a bus boycott, cost alot of money for bus companies, showed that a united front would be successful

Black people were discriminated against in the army, leading to the foundation of the double v campaign
Phillip A randolph would use the argument of america was fighting for freedom for others that blacks did not recieve

Phillip a randolph threatened a march on Washington, this made roosevelt end discrimination in the defense sector

However segregation was still alive and well so the march and possible revolution wasn’t viewed as too important

Knowledge
Naacp - led the bus boycotts
Sclc - Getting blacks to vote
Core - fought segregation peacefully changed to black nationalism
Sncc - gave young blacks a voice in the civil rights movement
Analysis
Led to the development of the civil rights campaign by showing if they were united they would win their struggle

Role of MLK
Knowledge
Mlk is the most recognisable figure of the civil rights, wanted a peaceful approach towards civil rights
Made effective use of tv radio and other forms of media
Analysis
Mlk realised that white people in the north were oblivious to the treatment of blacks in the south, used media to show them and sway their opinion towards pro civil rights

MLK was not the sole reason for the development of the civil rights movement it would’ve happened with or without him

Ralph abernathy - cofounded the sclc, took over after mlks death
Roy wilkens - respected speaker of the civil rights movement
Analysis
Roy wilkens met with many presidents as a figurehead of the civil rights movement, the importance of effective black leaders is shown as he was able to meet with important people
A+
effective black leaders didn’t kickstart the movement, without the desire for fight froms years of oppression there would be no civil rights movement
