US terms Flashcards
what frequency does ultrasound emit
1-20MHz sound waves emitted
how does the current form the ultrasound work
piezoelectric crystals inside a transducer rapidly vibrate in response to an alternating electric current.
resolution:
ability to clearly distinguish 2 structures lying beside one another
focus-
should be placed at level of object being assessed
gain
intense or decrease the signal intensity
lower frequency is used for what depth of structures
deeper structures- poorer quality have better tissue penetration
high frequency is used for what depth of structures
more superficial nerves- clear image but offer poor tissue penetration
gain settings
screen brightness can be adjusted manually
excessive or inadequate fain can cause
blurring of tissue boundaries and a loss of information
