A

The separation of powers is the U.S. government divided into three separate branches. This was a way to prevent any abuse of power. The authoritative branches include the Executive branch, Legislative branch, and Judicial branch.

Explain the concept of Federalism - give an example of a federal power, a state power, and a shared power.

A

Federalism is a concept where the power is divided between the central government and the states. Some of these powers are shared between the states whilst the central govt and state govt have their own issues. For example, federal powers were more concerned with maintaining the navy and state powers focused on elections and local issues. Federal and state powers both focused on law enforcement and infrastructure.
