Why did the Federalists and Antifederalists disagree?
The federalists preferred a strong central govt while the Antifederalists feared the Constitution made the government too powerful. They also proposed the Bill of Rights.
Explain separation of powers
The separation of powers is the U.S. government divided into three separate branches. This was a way to prevent any abuse of power. The authoritative branches include the Executive branch, Legislative branch, and Judicial branch.
Explain the concept of Federalism - give an example of a federal power, a state power, and a shared power.
Federalism is a concept where the power is divided between the central government and the states. Some of these powers are shared between the states whilst the central govt and state govt have their own issues. For example, federal powers were more concerned with maintaining the navy and state powers focused on elections and local issues. Federal and state powers both focused on law enforcement and infrastructure.
What does an Amendment mean?
An Amendment means to change or alter a right. There are 27 of them currently, and the first 10 are the Bill of Rights
