A
- legislative

A
- congress which is then split into the house of representatives and the senate

- the supreme court

what powers does the legislative branch of the US constitution have
A
- give the president a budget
- write the laws
- if congress get 2/3s majority then they can overrule the president and pass a law the president blocked. However its unlikely that all the parties will agree enough for this to happen
- can accept or decline the presidents nominees for the supreme court
- can declare war

what powers does the executive branch of the US constitution have
A
- enforce and enact laws
- can block laws put in by congress
- can nominate people for the supreme court
presidential powers:
- EXECUTIVE ORDER: the president can put a law in place without going through congress. Its mainly used in war or during natural disasters. However the president can’t over use this power other wise they may be seen as a dictator
- PRESIDENTIAL PARDON: exonerate someone on a crime political or otherwise
- they are commander in chief of the army but can’t declare war, just move their army to different places.

what powers does the judicial branch of the US constitution have
A
- the supreme court can impeach the president
- punish those who break the law
- resolve disputes between states and hear court appeals
- decide the laws and whether they match the US constitution
- President can nominate them but there is only 9 and they’re supposed to be equally split between parties so its difficult to get in and they serve for a long time so it doesn’t often change

what is the format of the individual state governments
A
- pass individual laws for each state e.g some states can carry arms
- have a local congress for each state
- every state has a governor that can pass any law as long as it is constitutional
- governors control armed forces of each state
- state supreme court people are chosen by the governor so they can be racist or subject only to the same beliefs as the governor etc.
- each state has two senators and the amount of representatives is proportional to the state size
