What does the S4 shop do?
S4 = Logistics, providing supplies and services
What does the S1 shop do?
S1 = Personnel Administration, acting as a liaison between HQ and subordinate units; often called the Adjutant at the unit level
What are the three branches of the US Army?
- Combat Arms: involved in actual fighting
- Combat Support: provides operational assistance to Combat Arms to include combat missions as necessary
- Combat Service Support: provides logistical and administrative support to the army; personnel normally not involved in combat operations directly
What does the S3 shop do?
S3 = Operations, planning and training to coordinate the accomplishment of the mission
What does the S2 shop do?
S2 = Intelligence, Security, and Information Operations, gathering information, controlling maps, and providing GIS analysis
What are the five types of divisions, and how many active duty divisions exist in the US Army?
The five divisions are:
- Armored,
- Mechanized,
- Light Infantry,
- Airborne, and
- Air Assault.
There are currently 10 active duty divisions.
