Urogenital Review Flashcards
How does 4 HS all affect Kidney
Type I - drug induced - Acute Interstitial Nephritis AIN
II - Ant-AB - Goodpasture, Anti-GBM; Post Strep
III - Complex deposition - Lupus Nephritis ; IgA also
IV - drug induced, transplant rejection
Whats most common cause of Nephrotic Syndrome
Membranous Glomerulopathy
- deposition of Immune complexes
Diabetic Nephropathy histology [2]
Nodular Glomerulosclerosis
BM thickening
Top cause for enlarged kidney
Polycystic KD - AD
How does IE cause wedge-shaped regions in kidney
Coagulative Necrosis
How does muscle trauma cause Kidney damage
Releases myoglobin, haemoglobin - Toxic
- Toxic Acute Tubular Necrosis
Ischaemia and Shock also for ATN
How does Macula Densa and JGA compensate Renal Stenosis from Hypertension
Treatment?
Hypertension, Renal Stenosis, GFR drops
- Macula Densa: PG produced vasodilates afferent
- JGA: Renin - ANGII - Vasoconstricts efferent
Increases GFR
But ANG leads to more hypertension
- ACEI - block ANGII
- NSAIDs - block PG production
but note drop in GFR leads to kidney injury by NSAIDs
Benign HT on Kidney
Hyaline arteriosclerosis- ischemia - Scarring
Malignant HT on Kidney
Fibrinoid Necrosis
Hyperplastic arteriosclerosis - w smooth muscle proliferation and concentric arrangement, collagen deposition
- Intimal thickening;
Schistosomiasis and Bladder cancer?
Squamous metaplasia, SCC
Alpha 1 blocker for?
RELAX BLADDER !!! RELAX even tho blocking sympathetic
ALPHA symp induces contraction of the urinary bladder,
although this effect is minor compared to the relaxing effect of β2-adrenergic receptors.
In other words, the overall effect of sympathetic stimuli on the bladder is relaxation, in order to inhibit micturition upon anticipation of a stressful event
What does HPV infect
Squamous epithelium
What does Leydig cells produce
Testosterone
What is hydrocele
Fluid accumulation in Tunica Vaginalis
What is elephantiasis
Cx of inguinal lymph nodes infection by Filariasis
- Wuchereria bancrofti
