UG III - Tumors Flashcards
RCC whats that
Give 1 Histo feature of 1 type of RCC
From Tubule Epithelium
- adenocarcinoma; AKA renal adenocarcinoma
- most common is Clear Cell type
- Polygonal cells w clear cytoplasm w branching vasculature
Urothelial Carcinoma of Kidney whats that
Give 1 Histo feature
From Transitional Epithelium
Mostly Papillary, Often Multifocal
Wilms Tumor
Nephroblastoma, kids tumor
Greyish White, Soft
Triphasic w these components:
- Sheets of small blue cells - Blastema component
- Spindle cells - Stromal
- Abortive tubular, glomeruloid - Epithelial
Malignant Kidney tumors clinical presentation [3]
Painless Haematuria
Mass in flank
Fever from necrosis
Benign Kidney Tumor
Origin +
4 types of cells present
Angiomyolipoma;
Mesenchymal tumor from M Stem Cells;
Blood vessels
Spindle Cells
Adipose Cells - Yellow
Perivascular epithelioid cells
Bladder Carcinoma
Urothelial Carcinoma, papillary lol
Low Grade non invasive papillary; papillary can invade tho
High Grade dysplastic
Prostate Benign
Pathophysiology
Cx from bladder upwards
BPH
- due to 5ARD converting T to DHT
- DHT stimulates growth
- transitional zone (malignant cancer @ periphery)
Bladder - obstruction, hypertrophy - distension, diverticulum - UTI Calculi formation, Hydronephrosis Hydroureter CKD from obstruction
Prostate Malignant
Prostate Adenocarcinoma
- note theres acinar and ducts in prostate
Prostate Tests
Serum Prostate Specific Antigens
- increased w hyperplasia but not specific for cancer
Biopsy
Penis Lesion
Cause
Warts
Condyloma Acuminatum
HPV 6, 11
Penis Malignant
SCC
HPV 16, 18
Testicular tumors Germ Cell Tumors
1 + 4
Seminomas
Origin from Seminiferous tubules germinal epithelium
- Radiosensitive
- No serum markers
- Lymph Node spread
Non-Seminomatous (can mix w seminoma)
Origin from not seminiferous tubules
- Embryonal carcinoma
- Yolk Sac Tumor
- Choriocarcinoma
- Teratoma - males malignant
Note also have stromal tumors involving Sertoli and Leydig cells;
Name all cancers of Kidney + Bladder + Prostate [5]
Malignant
- RCC Clear Cell Type - tubule epithelium
- Urothelial Carcinoma - transitional epithelium
- Wilms’s tumor/ Nephroblastoma
Benign
- Angiomyolipoma; have perivascular epithelial cell
Bladder - Urothelial Carcinoma
Prostate - Prostate Adenocarcinoma
