Kidneys, Bladder, Ureter, Urethra.
What are the 4 functions of the urinary system?
Formation, transportation, storage, and elimination of urine.
What do the kidneys look like?
Fist-sized beans.
Which species is the most affected by kidney disease?
Cats.

Do the kidneys constantly produce urine?
Yes.
What are the differences between male and female urethras?
In females it is relatively short, straight, and wide and has a strictly urinary function. In males it is relatively long, curved, and narrow and serves both urinary and reproductive functions. The male urethra in dogs travels through the urinary bone.
Which sex has more urinary issues?
Females are more likely to get infections, whereas males are more likely to get obstructions.
Which structure carries urine to the urinary bladder?
The ureters.
Where are the kidneys located?
In the dorsal part of the abdominal cavity, just ventral to the most cranial lumbar vertebrae. (Between the last rib and the beginning of the pelvic bone).
What is the function of the kidney?
To filter blood, remove waste, and excrete them in the urine.
What does normal urine look like?
Light or pale yellow and completely clear.
What percent of normal urine is water?
95%
