Titanic quarter- inner city Belfast northern Ireland
Aim
To develop site into major social and business area of Belfast, containing a mixture of offices, businesses and residences providing homes, job opportunities and leisure services
housing
plan- build 5000 apartments for 20,000 people
Now- arc1 open with 474 apartments (1-3 bedrooms) there was a plan to build more but the 2007 housing slump slowed progress
Apartments are close to city centre ( 20 min walk) with a glider bus available. No need for a car in future
Plan to make social and affordable housing to attract diversity of residents but for now they are very expensive eg 130,000 for a one bed apartment and 400000 for a 3 bed town house

139,000 square metres of workspace and plans for another 3 million feet of office space .
attracted 100 national and international companies eg Citi, Microsoft, vertigo
6000 jobs created in construction and with companies.

Skills of older unemployed shipyard workers are mismatched with new jobs. Stepping stones project works with titanic ltd and helps long term unemployed into jobs. Also Belfast met provides courses and training- 15,000 students attend here
