What is urbanisation?
Urbanisation is the increase in the proportion of people living in towns and cities
What does urbanisation look at?
Urbanisation looks at the functions and land use of settlements and shows how changes may bring benefits but can also cause benefits.
What does the word ‘site’ mean and when was a site chosen?
The word ‘site’ means the actual place where a village or town grew up. A site was chosen if it had one or more natural advantages.
The more natural advantages a place had what was it more likely to do?
The more natural advantages a place had the more likely it was to grow in size.
Explain protection as a natural advantage.
Good views from a hilltop give you warning if you are about to be attacked.

Needed for drinking, cooking and washing. Water might come from a river, spring or well
