How were villages easier to see changes in than cityβs or large towns?
Villages are small in size so it is often easier to see these changes in them than it is to see changes in a large town or city.
Why do people move to big cities?
People move to big cities in large numbers because they believe that many benefits come from living and working in cities. Moving there wil improve their quality of life.
What are the benefits(first 3)?
*There are more houses and flats to buy or rent
*There are more jobs which are better paid
*Food supplies are more reliable, with many shops giving a greater choice.
What are the benefits(last 3)?
*It takes less time and money to travel to work and to shops.
*There are better services, such as schools and hospitals.
*Urban areas have βbright lightβ attractions, such as discos, concerts, and sporting activities
How is it different for people already living in cities?
For people already living in cities, ;life is often less attractive. Living and working in cities creates many problems.
What are the problems(first 3)?
*Traffic causes congestion, accidents, noise, and air pollution.
*Old roads are too narrow for lorries and buses; new roads take up too much land.
*Old houses and factories need urgent, expensive repairs or they are left empty
What are the problems(last 3)?
*There is waste where houses and factories have been pulled down
*Crime, vandalism, and litter make cities dangerous and unpleasant
*Land is very expensive to buy, in and near the city centre
