A
  • natural increase : more people are being born than are dying = population growth
  • rural-urban migration : more people are leaving the countryside & moving to cities = due to push + pull factors

What are 3 push factors of urbanisation + megacities?

A
  • natural disasters = rural areas can find it harder to recover as they can have fewer resources
  • lack of opportunities = no education, employment
  • famine = starvation due to crop failure (could be because of desertification)

  • more jobs well paid and they are varied
  • access to services = access to better healthcare & educational opportunties
  • stability = people think they will have a better quality of life
