An increase in poeple living in towns and cities

- CBD
- Inner City
- Suburbs
- Rural Urban Fringe

What is the CBD?
A
- Central Business District
- Centre of a city/town
- Shops & offices & where transport routes meet
- High land values
- Tall buildings
- Few people live in the CBD

What is the Inner City?
A
- Found around the CBD
- Mix of poor quality housing & old industrial buildings
- Rund down , deprived
- New housing where derelict land has been redeveloped

What is the suburbs?
A
- Housing areas on edge of the city
- Land is cheaper
- Close enough to access the city
- Middle class famalies live here
- nicer environment
- less crime & pollution

A
- Right edge of the cit
- Both urban and land uses
- fewer & larger houses

What causes urbanisation?
A
- Rural-urban migration
- The movement of people from the countryside to the cities
- happens in richer and poorer countries but for different reasons

Why do people in rich countries move from rural areas to cities?
A
- Occured during industrial revolutions
- jobs were created in urban areas so more poeple moved to get jobs
- People are being encouraged back to where there were run down inner city areas due to redevelopment

Why do people in poor countries move from rural areas to cities?
A
- Shortage of services
- More jobs in urban areas due to better infrastructure and workforce
