Area becomes run down
Prices drop
Wrong type of people ‘Hen and Stag nights’

Rejuvenation or Decline:
Either reinvest to make popular again
Or let it decline and no one will visit

- Leisure Time Ave. 37 days er year & flexible time
- Better Wages Ave. 25,000 per year
- Holidays Paid holidays so more go away
- Advertisement TV’s, Billboards & Paper adverts
What are the 5 main factors which affect number of tourists visiting in the UK?
- Weather Bad weather discourages tourists e.g. 2007 UK wet summer
- World Economy Strength of the £ - foreigners get more for the euro we would get less so stay and holiday in the UK
- Exchange Rate Low value of the £ menas more overseas tourists visit
- Terrorism 7/7/05 London bombings
- Major Events 700,000 overseas tourists for the London 2012 olympics
What are the Positve and Negative Economic impacts of mass tourism to an area?
Positive
- Money to the local economy
- Creates jobs for locals & increases industries that supply tourism
Negative
- Profit made is kept by large tourist companies rather than local
