Urban Sprawl
The process of a city growing outward into greenfield land (into the green belt)
Urban Greening
Growing more vegetation in a city for example: growing plants on office rooftops and mini allotments on pavements
Brownfield Site
Land that has been built on before. The buildings may still be standing or demolished
Greenfield Site
Land that has not been built on before (often left for farming or left naturally)
Informal Sector
Self-employed or temporary work, which provides a small wage and limited health regulations (often untaxed)
Gentrification
Middle-class people moving into an area which increases property value, displacing current residents in the process
Population Density
The proportion of people in an area (measured usually in squared kilometers)
