- Runs more than 1000 schools free of charge and has a literacy rate of 89.7%, even in slums the literacy rate is 69%

-Doctors deal with 4000 cases a day of diseases caused by a lack of sanitation, with 500 people sharing one public toilet
- They earn £1 a day for their work, while working in terrible conditions

- Two aims were to restore 325 green spaces that were polluted and build 300 extra public toilets
- By 2007, 200,000 people were moved from slums into flats
- By 2015, 72 new trains were introduced on Mumbai’s railways
- Rent costs more than it did in the slum, and since they only earn £1 a day, this is not ideal

- Atmospheric pollution is caused due to lots of Cars and a population of 1.1million
- Inequality in housing

- Annual revenue of £4.1billion to the local economy
- In 2018, the Bullring recycled 82% of waste, the rest was used for energy generation and nothing was sent to landfill
- Created 5500 jobs, 50% of workers are local
- Still needs to harness energy consumption, and they are working with multiple tech companies to try solve this

- every town has at least one Chinese restaurant and often have a China town

Birmingham library Sustainable
- Built on a brownfield site, and so reused unused urban land and prevented the loss of biodiverse greenfield site
- Low Carbon use technology for heating and cooling, low energy lighting, water conservation systems
- 95% of all construction materials were recycled and the library recycled all used materials such as paper and plastic in recycling bins
