Urban And Rural Life Flashcards
Would you like to live in a big city one day?
Yes, Big Cities are a better choice for me the first reason is more job opportunities because large cities have more offices and factories that can offer employment. therefore it is more likely for me to find a suitable job. Another reason is entertainment. Some entertainment facilities big shopping centers or amusement parks can only be found in big cities.
Do you think your hometown is a popular tourist destination?
No. The city where I live is not considered a tourist attraction but there are a couple of ancient buildings that have been the destination for passengers however dense forests, rivers, and waterfalls attract the most tourists in my town.
What is the best time of year to travel to your hometown?
The best time for travelers to visit my hometown is spring. Because at this time of year, the forests and gardens in my city are breathtaking. Tourists can enjoy the fresh air while taking a long walk among Newly blooming trees.
Why do some people decide to move from the city to the countryside?
I think the main reason is pollution. Especially air pollution which happened as a result of high volumes of traffic and the large number of industrial zones near these cities. Air pollution can lead to serious health problems like lung cancer among the residents of metropolises. whereas in rural areas the risk of these diseases is much lower because of the fresh air.
Another reason is the traffic jams. Due to the increase in vehicle density, rush hours have become a nightmare for many commuters so they have to spend more time on transportation while in the countryside people can go anywhere without wasting their time.
What are some problems that people face when living in a big city?
Citizens of large cities have to deal with some everyday issues in their lives.
To begin with, one of the major problems is traffic jams. Due to the increase in vehicle density, rush hours have become a nightmare for many commuters as they have to spend more time on transportation.
Then there is an increased level of air pollution as a result of high volumes of traffic and the large number of industrial zones near these cities which raise the rate of lung cancer among the residents of metropolises.
What changes should be made to your hometown?
If I had to change my hometown I would start by building some useful and advanced facilities that make people’s lives easier like modern hospitals so people don’t have to go to other cities to benefit from decent healthcare facilities. Another change would be related to environmental problems. I would plant more trees and build more green space to reduce deforestation.
Describe a town in a rural area that you visited and liked.
As a person who lives in a city sometimes living in big metropolises can be really tiring so recreational activities like visiting rural areas and villages help me to ease my mind and unwind a little bit. Such activities result in recharging my batteries and work more efficiently. And about two years ago during the spring holidays, I visited a renowned village in the north of Iran. I only went there to escape the crowd but unfortunately, the town was bustling and filled with tourists. So in order to get off the beaten track and get back to nature. I got help from a couple of locals to find an unspoiled landscape. I told them that I was seeking something out of the ordinary that now not many people knew about and they suggested an unknown village with a stunning location and waterfront villas near the one that we went to visit. The village was surrounded by a forest belt. However, they warned us not to go out in the dark because of the risk of wild animals. They were also afraid that vehicles were not allowed and we needed to walk to reach our destination and the place at the end of the road was full of natural beauty which I liked the most. Whenever I was there I kept my mobile silent so I could enjoy the calmness of surrounding nature. I felt very joyful after visiting the village.
