People are travelling to work there, destination stop - lots of shops, lots of bus stops - causes traffic to back up, few bridging points - cars funelled into bottlenecks, grid iron street pattern - traffic lights

Road rage, stress relater diseases, accidents, people being late for work, increased journey times, pollution

Buchanan street was pedestrianised, more bus and taxi lanes, st enochs centre was modernised - glass windows, more designer shops - to attract wealthy tourists, old buildings have been converter into modern flats

Poor quality housing, narrow streets, traffic congestion, air and noise pollution, buildings have fallen into disrepair, lack of money for redevelopment, declining industrial areas

Gorbals redevelopment project, landscaping to make it more attractive, street art to attract people to live there, more locals services set up for local community, more local shops which provide job opportunities, old factories have been shut down

Quieter, less polluted, less crime, clean environment, cheaper land, more open green space, less road congestion, more public transport, local services

Farmer, businees people, local services(schools), housing companies, retailer parks
What are the problems of urban sprawl
Less open space, habitats are destroyed, more congestion in the suburbs, greenbelt is taken away, more pollution in the suburbs, land prices increase in suburbs, CBD loses business, farmers lose land
How to prevent urban sprawl
Deny planning permission for more shopping centres on edge of city, increase land price, establish green belts, provide retail parks
Why are out of town shopping centres so popular
Open later, more parking spaces which are free, easy accessibility for disabled people, near motorway junctions, not affected by weather
What are the impacts of shopping centres
Economic: CBD loses business, government get less tax, government makes cuts to education, economy boost for the suburbs
Environmental: habitats are destroyed, green belt is taken away, pollution levels rise
What housing problems are there in mumbai
Very congested, poor infrastructure, electricity tapped into illegally, more crime, more disease, less job opportunities, overcrowded, shortages of basic amenities
