What tests are performed on batteries?
Load test, voltage test.
What maintenacne work is performed on UPSs?
Change filters, blow dust out, test SCRs (Silicon Controlled Rectifier), test fans, test water connections, test diodes, test statick switch.
Explain UPS fault lights.
Vendor specific. Battery failure, component failure, primary power outage…
What is the pupose of a battery equalizer charge?
To equalize the voltage in all batteries.
How long should an equalizer charge be applied to a battery system?
Vendor specific.
What is the difference between a float charge and an equalizer charge?
The equalizer charge is a higher voltage used to occasionaly overcharge the batteries. This removes deposits from the lead plates in each cell. The float charge just keeps the batteries fully charged.
What is used for ellectrolyts make up in batteries?
De-ionized water unless the battery is sealed or a gel cell battery.
How do you bring a UPS online?
Follow the vendor manual.
After a power outage, how does a UPS come back online?
The UPS brings itself back online.
What do you do if there is a bad cell in a battery bank?
Replace the battery.
How do you know if there is a failure in a battery charger?
Station alarm or indicator on charger.
