- Basis of KD Qi
- Originates in the KD
- Facilitates transformation of Qi- Zong into Zhen
- Facilitates transformation into Blood (Gu Qi in the Heart)

Gu Qi
- 1st stage of transformation of food into Qi
- Goes to Lungs (Zong Qi) and Heart (Blood)
- Cannot be used by the body as is

- Can be used by the body
- Food Qi combines with air ( in the Lungs)
- useable by the body
- Assists LU and HT by controlling the breath, Qi, Blood
- Helps with speech and strength of voice
- flows down to aid the KD and Yuan Qi (Yuan QI flows up to assist in breathing)

Zhen Qi
- last stage of transformation of Qi
- Qi that originates in the Lungs and circulates through the channels and nourishes the organs
- From the Lungs it turns in to Ying Qi (nutritive) and Wei Qi (defensive)

Nutritive
- nourishes the internal organs and the whole body
- activates with needles
- travels with Blood

Defensive
- protects body against EPF
- warms/moistens skin and muscles via the opening and closing of pores
- circulates 50x/1hr.

-Qi of ST/SP that derives from food (Post Heaven QI)

-not actual Qi, rather the coordination of all the Qi’s in the body
