Whisper test
doc stands behind the pt. and has them cover up one ear. Whispers something and has the patient repeat it
-normal if pt correctly repeats the sequence or after 2 sequences, can identify 3 of the 6
Weber test
vibrate the tuning fork and place at the top of their forehead.
- then, go to where the sound lateralizes
- that side is either a conductive hearing loss on THAT side or a sensorinueral loss on the other side
Rinne test
vibrate the tuning fork and place it on their mastoid process until they can’t hear it anymore, then move it right next to their ear and time how long it takes for the sound to go away
-AC (air conduction) should always be larger that BC (bone conduction)
